This is to announce the 2nd Annual Roaring River races on the Clackamas River, near Estacada, Oregon.

The races are Aug. 23rd and 24th on the Clackamas River where the Roaring River enters.

This is easy whitewater, class I and II and the race is suitable for beginners, there will be participation of lots of open boats, short plastic boats, everyone will have fun!  Everyone can practice the slalom gates all day on Saturday, a great no pressure way to experience slalom!

There will be a
DR race on Sat afternoon, around 2 or 3 pm on  a  nearby stretch of the Clackamas, contact Jennie Goldberg at 206.713.0520 or via email at theleague@nwwhitewater.org for more specifics. The exact start and finish of the downriver race on Saturday hasn't been figured out yet as it will be dependent on water level (estimating about 600 cfs?) as to how far downstream we will need to start.  We will do sprints at 11:30 and the classic at 2:30.

The
slalom race will begin Sunday morning. The slalom course will be set on a class 2 section of river. The first part of the course is class 1, second section picks up a bit, and the third section is the third section. All gates are on class 2 water.

This is a local and friendly race and is being hosted by the Lower Columbia Canoe Club.
