Cedar River Gates. Located where the Issaquah-Hobart Road crosses the Cedar River at Landsburg, Washington 40 minutes east of Seattle.
*Take I-90 to Front Street exit in Issaquah. Continue through the town of Issaquah. Street becomes the Issaquah-Hobart Road. Continue east of Highway 18.
Class II+ water. Can circulate gates easily on the bottom half of the course. To access the upper half, see the Cedar River access rules http://www.nwwhitewater.org/2003/2003Cedar_Access.htm
The course is open to all paddlers for practice. Please take the time to adjust level of poles as needed or in anticipation of water level. The Cedar rises and falls quite quickly. Flows tend to match rainfall but are regulated somewhat by the City of Seattle (upstream is drinking water system). The lower course is good from 300 cfs-2,000 cfs. The upper is good from 500 cfs-2,000. For flow information, look for the Cedar River Below the Diversion at http://www.nwwhitewater.org/Levels_03.htm
Lake Washington gates at the Arboretum, near the University of Washington. Access from the lower parking lot of the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle's Montlake district (just under hwy 520). About 25 flat water gates hang from the freeway bridge in an area of the lake closed to motorboats.
