The League of Northwest Whitewater Racers is an all-volunteer group of paddlers in the Pacific Northwest. Under the auspices of the American Canoe Association, US Canoe&Kayak, and the Washington Kayak Club, the League organizes wildwater races and races and training clinics in whitewater slalom.

National Paddling Organizations

The International Canoe Federation (ICF) oversees slalom competition in the United States.  This is their website for the latest news and current rules:

 
 ICF released the new Canoe Slalom competition rules in 2024 for the 2025/26 seasons.

The changes can be summarised as follows:
Five of areas in Canoe & Kayak:
  • Standardise the width of the gates to 140cm
  • Simplification of the competition format
  • ICF CSL Pan-continental Rankings derived from CSL World Rankings
  • Implementation of a qualification pathway to access to the World Cups (including Kayak Cross)
  • Officialization of the short slalom event

And three areas of change for Kayak Cross:

  • The time trial to become an event called Kayak Cross Individual
  • Entries are reduced to 3 per NF for level 1 and 2 competitions
  • Removal of the 12 universal quotas in Elimination phase

American Canoe Association - serves as the National Governing Body (NGA) as approved by the US Olympic Committee (USOC) as that term is defined in the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act and as the National Federation in the United States responsible to the International Canoe Federation (ICF) for Slalom and Wildwater (as well as other disciplines).
